Announced for September, Opel already reveals information about the newcomer in its ecoFLEX range, the Astra 1.7 CDTI.
Compared to the original model, the ecoFLEX version manages to drop emissions by 20g/km while reducing consumption by 17%!
Particularly frugal, it fits between the other two engines available on the Astra ecoFLEX :
-The 1.3 CDTI with 95hp, emissions of 94g/km and an average consumption of 3.5l/100km
-And the 2.0 CDTI, which develops 160hp, 129g/km and a combined fuel consumption of 4.9 l/100km.
Available in 5 doors, the Astra ecoFLEX 1.7 CDTI with 130hp and 300Nm of torque reaches a combined consumption of 3.7 l/100 for emissions of 99g/km. Power is transmitted via a six-speed gear box.
The CEO of Opel/Vauxhall announced that they will launch four new ecoFLEX models by the end of the year, in addition to the Ampera coming soon.
The recipe : tires with low rolling resistance (ContiEcoContact), new engine management systems for maximum efficiency, energy regeneration, stop/start, active aerodynamic components (active aeroshutters like the Ford Focus).
For the 6 speed gearbox a particular attention has been made on the reduction of frictions and it is especially adapted for recovering the kinetic energy and converting it into electricity in order to transmit it to the battery (i.e. in the stop/start phases the functions of the car remain active for improved comfort which solicits more the battery)
Pricing will be announced at launch.
