First renderings of the BMW i3

The BMW i3 is the first citycar in the range i, coming from "project i" a new series of models from BMW, which goal is to minimize its environmental impact throughout the production process and lifecycle.

Available in 2013, the i3, electric compact car developed on the basis of ActiveE remains a propulsion, the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) significantly reduces the weight (350kg). 
The batteries are developed by SB LiMotive partner of BMW, and everything else is developed in-house.

At first dubbed MCV for MegaCityVehicle, the i3 with its 3988mm will be available with two doorsand four seats followed by variants ICV IntraCityVehicle in 2015 with two doors and two seats then the UCV, UrbanCommuterVehicle for 2017 with four doors and five seats.

The BMW i3 should be priced around € 40,000.
