Comparison, Golf Cabriolet BlueMotion, petrol or diesel ?

The new Golf Cabriolet to be revealed in world premiere at the Geneva 2011 Auto Show will offer three engines out of six equipped with Bluemotion technology.

For now, only 2 of them were revealed the 1.2 TSI and 1.6 TDI both Euro 5, they deliver an equivalent power of 105hp (77kW).

First, let's have a look to the exterior, we can notice a slight family resemblance with the A3 Cabriolet which uses the platform and we see the LED rear lights that look like the ones of the Golf GTI.

To summarize there is  not much differences in terms of performance for both versions, it is mostly the fuel economy and emissions figures that changes (and probably the price when it will be revealed). For the moment all we know is that the Golf Cabriolet will be available before year end  at a price starting at € 23,625.
