Terrafugia’s flying car closer to delivery


Terrafugia, a company founded in 2006 by 5 MIT graduates and pilots is building a flying car.
Using the Transition® model for drive and flight tests, Terrafugia made significant improvements to the design, integrated automotive style safety features, to come up with an updated generation that includes:

-An energy absorbing crash structure in the nose and a rigid safety cage.
-Improved wings with an optimized airfoil and a smooth folding mechanism that operates from inside the cockpit
-A pusher propeller to make an efficient use of the Rotax 912S engine mid mounted
-Rear wheel drive with CVT transmission
