People powered? Understand methane gas powered.
The Bio-Bug, imagined by GENeco and converted by GreenFuel Company, is a Beetle that uses biogas (methane) generated during the sewage treatment process and that drives and feels just like a normal car. To use biogas fuel without affecting vehicle performances, the gas needs to be treated in a process that separates carbon dioxide from the biogas.
Mr Saddiq, GENeco’s general manager said “It will mean that both human and food waste will be put to good use in a sustainable way”.
The Methane is generated through anaerobic digestion – a process in which bugs, in the absence of oxygen break down biodegradable material to produce methane.
