Chrysler dropping EV’s and hybrid

01/08/2010

In September 2008, looking for a way to avoid bankruptcy and get a greener image, Chrysler had created a special division called ENVI, in charge of developing full electric and hybrid cars, thus putting alternative propulsion at the center of their strategy.

Today, there are no more plans to make production vehicles from ENVI technology demonstration vehicles. The alliance with FIAT gives the opportunity of fuel economy with lighter platforms and smaller engines. Fiat 1,4 liter FIRE engine will debut by year end in North America on the FIAT 500.

The only all electric vehicle we could see from Chrysler is the electric FIAT 500 due to arrive in 2012.
