It is not necessary to present the European "Car of the Year" prize, a jury chaired by Hakan Matson and composed by 58 journalists of 23 European countries.

For the first time, this price which exists for 48 years has awarded an electric car, the Nissan Leaf, during a ceremony in Pavillon Gabriel in Paris

For the record, the Leaf is an electric car that seats 5 persons, it has a 80kW electric engine developing 280 Nm of torque, the maximum speed is 145kph.

For the complete data sheet it is here.

Already 27000 units have been ordered worldwide, they will be built in Japan but also in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

While some European countries were already delivered some units (Portugal) others (like France) will have to wait until year end.

The base model of the Nissan Leaf is very well equipped (navigation, parking camera, air conditioning) so much that there is only one option available: a solar panel mounted in the rear spoiler.
