Even at BMW downsizing is the trend: 6 cylinders out, and welcome to a 4 cylinders 2.0l Turbo.
Still not green enough for us… But the innovation is worth being mentioned, you will quickly understand why.
For the comparison, we can clearly forget the former 2.0 gasoline engine which developed only 150ch. We have to compare it with the xDrive25i and xDrive30i engines because this 2.0 TwinPower output comes right in between those two 6 cylinders of 2,5l and 3l.
With regard to the former 2.5l, this new engine offers consumptions down by 18 % and emissions by 22 % while the power is increased by 12 %!!
The X1 xDrive28i is BMW’s first model to use this 2.0l TwinPower Turbo, latest innovation of the program Efficient Dynamics and allows to combine "pleasure and efficiency"
Its power? 245hp and 350Nm of torque, not bad!
These figures are achieved, thanks to a high-performance “twin-scroll turbocharging system, direct petrol injection with innovative solenoid injectors, and the latest further enhanced version of the BMW-patented VALVETRONIC variable valve control system”.
The standard X1 is delivered with a 6 speed manual gearbox, an optional 8 speed automatic is also available such as the Efficient Dynamics pack which include the Start-Stop system (with the manual gearbox)
