VW decided to present its new Passat " Born in the the USA " in Detroit (NAIAS on 2011).
This launch is important for VW who plans on 1 million units sold in seven years, this model is part of VW’s new US strategy with a will to triple sales on the market by 2018
Built in the new American factory of Chattanooga, in the Tennessee, the 2011 Passat will arrive on the market in mid-August.
Engines announced at the moment are American market oriented with, in the basic version a 5 cylinder gasoline of 170ch and its fuel economy around 7,5l per 100km (31 mpg), a VR6 version of 280ch will be also available.
And rare thing for the United States, a TDI of 140ch and its fuel economy slightly superior to 5l in 100km (43mpg) on the highway.
