Formula E 2015-2016 season, what to expect!

After a launch season, Formula E is now recognized around the world and can accelerate, promising a more thrilling second season, new drivers, new partnerships, new records and now in-house powertrains accepted - that will spice up the races!



Evolutions of the electric race cars


Finished the Spark Renault SRT_01E, after the inaugural monotype series, teams can now provide their own powertrains: motor, inverter, gearbox and cooling system!
The rest of the car has to remain for now, the idea is to allow teams / manufacturers to push and test their technologies, eight of the 10 teams now have their own propulsion system!


New partnerships


Second French manufacturer to enter the adventure after Renault (Renault e.Dams), Citroën via its DS brand joins forces alongside Virgin !!
Volkswagen also enters the Championship with ABT Schaeffler, the two brands already joined their forces in the Scirocco R-Cup...



New drivers and teams changes


-1997 F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve joins Venturi replacing NIck Heidfeld who moves to Mahindra Racing
-Jean-Eric Vergne, he moves to DS Virgin Racing
-Finally, a new pilot at Andretti / Amlin, and that's a girl, the Swiss driver Simona de Silvestro, who had already debuted at the season-ending races in London!



New race tracks - Paris!


As the season will begin once again in Beijing on October 17, 2016, Paris is now scheduled for this 2015-2016 season, appointment is taken for April 23, 2016!



New records


After the year of discovery, cars and teams will progress quickly, as proof the record of the test track in Donington has been smashed twice already since the start of the new season tests only 10 days ago! First Sebastien Buemi on Renault e.Dams with 1: 31.050s (previous record was set 1: 31.083s), then Lucas di Grassi on ABT Schaeffler improved more significantly the record passing under the 1:30 barrie at 1: 29.920s, that improves very quickly !!
