During the EV Taiwan Show in 2013, we presented the TUM Create University and their concept of electric scooter but the university based in Singapore was also working on a project of much larger scale, an electric taxi designed for this island where taxis which represent only 3% of the automotive market are very popular and account for 15% of the total journeys!
The TUM Create was designed from a blank page as an electric taxi for “tropical megacities”, it is 100% tailored and functional. Such as heat and humidity proof seats or overhead cooling system.
Designed by the TUM Create in cooperation with the Nanyang Technological University and of course the TUM Munich who is developing the "Visio.M", they are funded by Singapore’s Foundation for National Research.
The has been built locally, a first for the country!
Its major strength, a charging time in just 15 minutes via to two chargers plugs offering a range of 200km, mainly thanks to a very low weight and composite carbon fiber construction.
For now it is not question of a test fleet but the prototype is there and the official announcement could follow soon!
