The new Passat will presented in PHEV at the Paris Auto Show - Passat GTE


After presenting the new Passat at the beginning of the summer, for the 2014 Paris Auto Show, the eighth generation of VW’s sedan adopts the plug-in hybrid technology already seen in the Golf GTE but in a more powerfull configuration! 


Specs sheet – 1000km on a single tank 

Gasoline PHEV, the 1.4TSI engine offers 156hp and 115hp from the electric motor for a combined output of 218hp and torque of 400nm! 

The electric range only is 50km thanks to a 9.9kWh battery placed under the rear seats, with a combined consumption of less than 2 l per 100km and 45 g per km CO2 emissions according to the NEDC cycle but 1000km in real conditions from a 50liters tank.

Four driving modes "E-mode" "hybrid" "battery charge" or GTE which delivers all the torque available. 

The charging time is announced at 4hours on 240Volts and 2h30 with the optional WALLBOX (360V) 

Note that this plug-in hybrid powertrain of the Passat will also be offered in the Passat SW, the estate version. 



Prius Plug-in and Prius+ Plug-in
In non plug-in: Toyota Auris and its Sports Tourer variant, the Kia Optima and finally the Peugeot 508 and 508RXH in diesel. 

The arrival of the new Passat in showroom is scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.
