InMotion, a hybrid LMP1 with rotary engine aims for the Nurburgring record

InMotion has revealed the first images of a prototype hybrid race car, an aerodynamic hyper LMP1 should make his racing debut in 2016

This Hybrid LMP1 is called InMotion 01 or IM01, it is announced for the 24h of the Nurburgring in 2016 before tackling the 24h of Le Mans in 2017 or 2018 in the famous Garage 56 that is open to innovative prototypes.

Technological showcase and demonstration of knowhow, the InMotion 01 has been under development since 2012 by two Dutch universities, the Fontys and Eindhoven University.
Their goal is rather ambitious, beat the lap record of the Nurburgring!

The IM01 is an electric car with 4 motors and is therefore a four-wheel drive car featuring a series hybrid technology with a rotary engine as range extender, it is designed to work at a constant speed for an optimized fuel consumption.

The IM01 should offer greater accelerations than F1 cars for a consumption reduced by half! The maximum speed is set at 360kph!

The design of this InMotion is all about by aerodynamics, so much that the driver must use cameras to see on the side

This LMP1 is not the only InMotion project as they announce an autonomous vehicle by 2015
