(VIDEO) New Renault Twingo vs Peugeot 108, the battle of the French city-cars is declared

Update of February 14th article with new videos - including the world premieres of both cars at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Exactly the same day with just a few hours of difference, two major French manufacturers launch strategic models, two new city-cars, the 2014 Renault Twingo and Peugeot 108.

Both allow many customization options and three-cylinder engines (although those of the Twingo remain secret for now) and increased connectivity with your smartphone.

New Renault Twingo

Largely based on the concept Twin Run, it is round and recalls the Renault 5 with square headlights and marked shoulders.
No indication on its engines yet - we just know it is rear engine architecture - but we will certainly find an electric version as foreshadowed by the Twin'Z concept and maybe plug-in hybrid

Peugeot 108

This one creates the surprise, it was not expected but announces a response by PSA in this segment, so that Renault does not pull the cover on them...

After having relatively set aside this model with only some restyling, the 108 sounds the charge adopting the incisive and feline style directly in line with the last 308.

Specs: it weighs only 840kg and is offered with four petrol engines, three versions of the 1.0l VTi (one e-VTi ) developing 68hp for emissions from 88 to 97g/km depending on the gearbox, then comes the 82hp of the 1.2VTi with emissions of 99g/km.

Too few details to allow a match between these models yet - both are available in convertible from launch.

We meet again very soon on the Geneva Motor Show !
