Porsche hybrid LMP1 is powered by a 2.0l four-cylinder turbo! 919 Hybrid


Porsche announced since the summer 2013 its return in the Endurance Championship after 16 years with a hybrid LMP1 for the 2014 season, little by little information in the powetrain emerge.


The race is a laboratory for production vehicles and their engines, having always been faithful to Flat 6 with some V8 infidelities, emissions regulations push Porsche to focus on four cylinders, the Macan latest Porsche’s SUV should be the first to offer this engine followed by the Boxster, Cayman and why not 911!

At Porsche particularly any development must go through the competition and to show that the four-cylinder is powerful and that the fan of the brand respect it, it is simply in its LMP1 hybrid that Porsche will prove its capabilities!
The Porsche 919 Hybrid will be the only one with a four-cylinder - six cylinder gasoline hybrid for the Toyota TS030 and six-cylinder diesel for Audi!

The 2.0l direct injection four-cylinder turbo drives the rear wheels and has two energy regeneration technologies associated to a battery to power the electric motor on the front axle.
