(VIDEO) Electric Formula 1: first track tests of the Spark-Renault SRT_01E


It is on the Ferté Gaucher race track located near Paris that the first tests of Formula E’s Championship official car, the Spark -Renault SRT_01E took place.

For the record, Spark Racing Technology is in charge of developing 42 electric cars,  they teamed-up with McLaren who provides the electric motor and Renault as technical partner, taking on the experience of the French brand in Formula 1 and electric vehicles!


The Spark-Renault SRT_01E in figures

Officially revealed on the Geneva Motor Show, its specs sheet announces 200kW (270hp) of power in peak and 800kg for a 0  to 100kph in 3 seconds.

During the test drive which took place this week, the only 25% of the available power and a small battery pack.
Lucas di Grassi achieved 40 laps over two days to ensure a proper operation of all the systems.

Note however a comment of Pierre Calippe, Renault Sport Technologies :
“The shift strategy is already working quite well” the SRT_01E is equipped with a gearbox ? Interesting!
