LA 2013 - VW CrossBlue Coupe Concept , the future Touareg with a gasoline plug-in hybrid powertrain


Since 2011, VW works on the next generation of the Touareg with the CrossCoupé concept in 2011 and the 6-seater XL version called CrossBlue, here is the synthesis of the two: “glimpse at the future and at a new era of SUV design”

Although its launch is not yet official, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept is based on VW’s MQB modular platform and could be produced quickly...

With 192.5 inches (4.9m ) long and 79.3 inches wide (2m) its format is equivalent to the current Touareg and could well announce its new version!

To attract the US market where this crossover is presented, its plug-in hybrid gasoline powertrain offers 415hp for a 0 to 100kph in 5.8seconds and a consumption figure of 70mpg  (3.4l/100km )!

In detail, the 295hp V6 TSI is matted to a 6-speed DSG gearbox, the battery is placed in the center tunnel to power the two electric motors that deliver 54hp on the front wheels and 114hp at the rear.

The electric -only mode allows a maximum speed of 75mph - 120kph with the unique 114hp electric motor on the rear wheels, consisting of eight modules the battery capacity reaches 9.8kWh and range is announced at 21km.
