(VIDEO) IAA 2013 : Formula E Spark-Renault SRT_01E

A few weeks ago we announced the locations of the 2014 FIA Formula E Championship, but the official car for the season remained secret… Here it is, live from the IAA 2013, the Spark-Renault SRT_01E, which will be produced to 42 units models for the coming season – complying with the FIA regulation standards.

The cars guidelines: cost savings, a special aerodynamic for easy overtaking, then efficiency and finally, the ability to run on urban race-tracks!

Spark Racing Technology built this Formula E with the help of some big names of the motorsport industry.

Thus we find a carbon-aluminum chassis built by Dallara, which meets the same safety standards as in Formula 1. The electric system and motors are from Mclaren, and the batteries are supplied by Williams! The gearbox is sourced from Hewland, and Michelin tires will be standard for every team.

The whole car has been designed in partnership with Renault, which due to its experience in electric mobility but also F1, Formula 3.5 and 2.0 provides some valuable advices...

Technically the car weights 800kg with the batteries (200kg) and the driver.
The Formula E is large, almost 5 meters long and 1.8 meters wide.
In terms of power, the Spark-Renault produces 270hp maximum, but 180hp in race mode in order to maximize the range.

The performances announced are 3s for the 0 to 100kph, and a maximum speed limited at 225kph.

The Formula E championship will for sure keep its promises, cars with the latest technology, a push-to-pass button to boost your motor for a few seconds, and a list of amazing inner-city racetracks, we are definitely looking forward its launch!
