Update of August 8th article with a first image of this concept that challenges categorisation "not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover but a fusion of the three body styles. It is designed for younger customers seeking an alternative to traditional premium compact vehicles and open to convention-challenging approaches."
Infiniti just announced the Q30 concept for Frankfurt Motor Show. Premium compact car, the Q30 is expected as an evolution of the Etherea presented in early 2011.
For the moment no information about a possible hybrid powertrain but for the record, the Etherea that was supposed to be manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria from the beginning of 2014 was featuring a powerfull hybrid powertrain combining a 2.5l 4 cylinder and an electric motor for a combined output of 245hp!
That would match with the reputation of the person in charge of the Q30 Concept project - none other than Sebastian Vettel, Director of Performance.
In order to develop this dynamic and innovative model, Infiniti asked Sebastian Vettel to take care of the project since its inception, for a premium compact vehicle, latest interpretation of Infiniti’s new design language, that should allow it to reach a new customers.
“This Infiniti Q30 Concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company, Ltd. “In our quest to appeal to the modern, young-minded premium customer, the Infiniti Q30 Concept has a distinctive style and reaches new levels of product quality.”
