Following a first article in May announcing the launch of the 2014 S-Class, here is a summary of the hybrid models performances (petrol and diesel) and new details on the S500 Plug-in hybrid!
Indeed, in addition to the S400 hybrid
based on a V6 petrol and emitting 147g/km for a consumption of 6.3l/100km - available from fall at € 85,204 – and the S300 BlueTEC HYBRID
, a four-cylinder diesel hybrid announcing 4.4l/100km and 115g/km which will be available early 2014 at a price not revealed at the moment, Mercedes will also offer the first plug-in hybrid version of the S-Class.
This plug-in hybrid variant, the S500 Plug-in Hybrid will be the first S-Class with a consumption below 4l/100km and emissions expected around 75g/km, while its combined power will be close to 400hp: 333hp and 480Nm from V6 + 44kW from the electric motor (60hp)!
Its 8.7kWh battery should offer 30km of range in electric only
Premium plug-in hybrid sedan, competing with the Panamera S e-hybrid
its price should be similar or from 110.000 €
The S500 plug-in will be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, also the scene of the first public presentation of the BMW i3.
