Honda pushes its EV city car on the American soil – just 249$ per month

Honda continues its conquest of the green vehicles market (shown here) and aims at the American masses with a model, whose insertion in a market dominated by fuel burners and pick-ups doesn’t seem easy on the paper!

Indeed with the Fit EV (known as Jazz in Europe) the Japanese automaker wants to attract urban customers with low mobility needs outside the major urban areas, offering its highly efficient EV city-car (118MPGe equivalent to 1.99l per 100km or 29kWh/100miles) in a lease program over three years.

The brand had launched a first offer of $ 398 (less than 300 €) per month, without further obligation (battery leasing, downpayment, mileage...), and just made an extra effort at $259 (€ 198) per month - an answer to competitors such as Fiat, having offering the electric Fiat 500 at $ 199 per month. The American Chevrolet is no exception, with an attractive offer on the Spark EV, which, however, is limited to 18,000km over three years ...

For now, the launch strategy only relies on dealers in selected states: California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island and Connecticut, before a more comprehensive and global approach in the coming months.
