(VIDEO) Porsche back in 24h of Le Mans in 2014 with an hybrid LMP1


For several years now Audi has been dominating the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last year, Audi's R18 E-tron and diesel cars topped the three first positions. But Porsche just announced its return for 2014 in the king class of endurance, the LMP1, spicing-up the competition in the lead between the Toyota TS030 and Audi.

Porsche masters the hybrid tech thaht they have developing on the Porsche GT3 R Hybrid or on their plug-in hybrid supercar the 918 Spyder, but for the moment no further details about the car have been revealed, we just now that it use an hybrid powertrain and comply with the LMP1 class rules.
No informations either have filtered on the car’s name or future sponsors. So we can start dreaming of a Martini paintjob, but a Rothmans or Gulf one would be as pretty!

Porsche added that those innovations will be fitted to its production vehicles but before that, they needed to be developed, tested and approved on their racing cars including the hybrid LMP1!
