As Jean-Francois Weber promised us during our conversation on the 2012 Paris Auto Show, the first hydrogen-powered LMP1 - GreenGT H2 - just completed three running sessions at the Nevers Magny-Cours racetrack!
After discovering the soundtrack of the GreenGT H2 earlier this year, the team that was testing so far all the components separately, fuel-cell, drivetrain… integrated all of them in the prototype for an historic first lap.
The schedule is therefore still on track for a participation in the 24 hours of Le Mans (that will celebrate their 90 years) next 22 and 23 of June!
Jean-Francois Weber, General Manager and Director of R & D said in the press release:
"We gained a lot of information during these three driving sessions, especially regarding the stability of the fuel cell and the aerodynamic balance. We now return to our workshops to develop the GreenGT H2 from the laboratory version to the race version, continuing our development program."
There are currently no video of the first running session but the wait should not be long now...
