Here's a rumor that persists, after announcing that the electric was not among the priorities of the brand - despite the prototype R8 e-tron / Rse2. Audi seems to be turning to hybrid and diesel hybrid more specifically, capitalizing on the technology proven by their racing prototypes R18 e-tron.
The R10 or Scorpion as it is nicknamed in-house
will have to make some room in this very competitive segment - where the price has no limits - already explored by some of the greatest supercar
manufacturers, McLaren P1
, Ferrari LaFerrari
and Porsche 918 Spyder
! But in this game, the R10 will be the only diesel and with such race winner pedigree!
Two-seater, the R10 would fit over the new generation of R8 in the range, enabling the brand to regain a technological leadership.
Of course four wheel drive, under the hood should fit a modified 3.7l V6 TDI (the engine used in the R18) powering the rear wheels and a 7 speed dual-clutch gearbox that could develop over 400hp and 698nm.
Two electric motors placed on the front axle will increase the total output to more than 600hp and 999nm of torque!
