70 Toyota i-Road in a car-sharing scheme for 2014 in France
The city of Grenoble will launch in partnership with Toyota and EDF, a system of electric micro-carcar-sharing that will be tested over a period of three years from the end of 2014.
Toyota will be the only manufacturer to provide the 70 all-electric vehicles in 20 stations over the city of Grenoble and its surroundings, a service available in one-way. The energy supplier EDF is involved in the adventure, they will install and connect the expensive fast charging stations. Toyota will provide its micro-car i-Road a tilting three-wheeler.
The battery of the i-Road which is being presented at the Geneva Motor Show has been developed by the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA) in Grenoble.
It is the company Citélib, a car-sharing company already established in Grenoble, which will be responsible for operating the system and the twenty stations. The vehicle maintenance will be performed by Toyota.
The local authority will fund up to € 200,000 - 300,000 over the three year period.
