Ford2Go: Ford launches its own car-sharing scheme in Germany

Ford just launched Ford2Go a car-sharing service to increase mobility and allow potential customers to try its vehicle in real life conditions.

Certainly Germany is a land of innovation regarding mobility services. Many manufacturers have similar schemes: Citroen C-Zero and Deutsche Bahn, DriveNow and… Car2Go!

Ford teams-up with DB Rent (Deutsche Bahn again), to launch FORD2GO, Ford dealers will provide cars for businesses and individuals throughout Germany.

To drive a Ford Ka, subscribers will have to book their car with their mobile phone or computer, then they can get the keys at the garage or take the car via a "pass" in a station.

According to Bernhard Mattes, CEO of Ford Germany: "FORD2GO takes another step towards sustainable mobility. Car-sharing has to be considered as an interesting and forward-thinking business in the face of increasingly complex mobility needs and in the sense of a complete range of mobility options.”

Recent studies have shown that 56% of Europeans surveyed are interested in a car-sharing service. FORD2GO will be launched in the second quarter and will be gradually rolled out across the country.
