Announced since 2011 at the Los Angeles Auto Show with a first prototype that we had the chance to test, the time of the electric Golf has come!
The 2013 Geneva Motor Show should actually be the scene of this e-Golf world premiere (along with the one of the e-Up also expected ...).
Compared to the prototype of Golf blue-e-motion
– by the way tested in Paris since March 2012 - the specs-sheet does not change
with a power of 115hp, a torque of 270 nm for a 0 to 100kph in 11.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 135kph.
Its 26.5kWh battery provides 175km of range with a weight increase of 205kg compared to its combustion equivalent, fast charging takes only 20 minutes or 5 hours on a household plug.
During our test-drive, we liked the possibility to play with several levels of regenerative braking via paddles located behind the steering wheel to vary depending on the type of driving or use (city / highway). For the moment we do not know whether this innovation will be offered on the series model...
On the design side it presents a redesigned front bumper, which gets rid of unnecessary grills, and should therefore show an improved Cd.
