We knew that McLaren was working on a new supercar above the MP4-12C, the preliminary specs just landed, the McLaren P1 will be powered by a hybrid V8!

In detail its 3.8l V8 derived from the MP4-12C goes from 600 to 737hp with 720Nm while a 179hp and 260Nm electric motor directly placed under the V8 offers additional power for a total output of 916hp and 900nm in peak and only to the rear wheels!

The transmission is handled by a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and emissions are expected below 200g/km!

Plug-in hybrid, the 96kg battery placed between the seats and the engine recharges in 2 hours and an electric-only mode "E-mode" allows 10km of range.

The P1 offers technological innovations directly derived from the experience gained in F1 as the DRS (Drag Reduction System) which reduces drag by 23% via a simple push on a button, or the IPAS (Instant Power Assist System).

This car is placed in all respects as a competitor of the 918 Spyder and "LaFerrari" F150 therefore its price is set accordingly £866.000, or just over € 1.000.000!
