The VW e-Up, first electric city-car of the group will be presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next March in its series version before an arrival in showrooms scheduled for the end of the year. Here are some indiscretions.
The first reveal of a prototype of the electric e-Up happened at the Frankfurt Motor Show... in 2011. Since then, nothing, the economic situation does not help the release of all-electric models often seen as second cars because of their limited range...
It seems that the decision has finally been taken, the e-Up is announced in showrooms for year-end or early 2014.
On the specs side, based on the information available at the moment,
the electric city-car is powered by a 80hp and 210nm electric motor (in peak). Its maximum speed is limited to 130kph, the acceleration from 0 to 100kph is listed in "under 14 seconds" .. or 6 seconds slower than its sporty competitor, the Chevrolet Spark EV
The 18kWh lithium-ion battery pack should offer a range of 130km for an additional 200kg compared to the ICE VW.
A price around 20.000€ is rumored before government grants.
