2013 DeltaWing , new engine and new look

Nissan was the main sponsor of the DeltaWing -an innovative race car imagined by Don Panoz with Highcroft Racing that became DeltaWing Racing Cars since- apparently, they withdrawn from the project, no new official sponsor for the moment but a new engine from Mazda !


Nissan which was the main funder of the adventure DeltaWing decided to leave and a Mazda engine now powers the car.

The new engine is 1.9l bi-turbo four-cylinder that delivers 50hp more than the 1.6l turbocharged from Nissan’s era. In total, no less than 345hp now power the vehicle while the new engine is also lighter (7kg less) ...

The pilots of the DeltaWing won’t complain and are getting ready for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in which they had participated last year until a competitor ejected the car out of the track...

The design of the car should also evolve and three chassis are being built now. For the first round of the ALMS (American Le Mans Series) in Sebring a version as we know it will compete, and then  a “closed-top” version will arrive...
