Lexus IS300h, specifications unveiled less than 100g/km and 4.3l/100km for 220hp!


World premiered at the 2013 NAIAS, the new IS adopts the hybrid technology, a new powertrain developed by the brand, the 300h.


Already offered in the United States in the ES300h since last year, this engine shows the latest evolutions of Lexus’ hybrid technology, smaller, more efficient, it will be fitted to a wide range of vehicles, including the IS300h and a probable compact SUV below the RX, the NX300h expected for year-end at the Tokyo Auto Show (just a rumor yet)...

Compared to the U.S. version of this engine known in the ES300h, it is both more powerful (+20 hp), and more economical (40mpg or 5.9l/100km for the ES), here are some details:

It combines a 2.5l Atkinson cycle four-cylinder (L4) developing 177hp with an electric motor for a total output of 220hp and 215nm of torque, emissions are expected below 100g/km and consumption under 4.3l/100km…

For the moment Lexus hasn’t revealed the performances, weight or even the price of their latest hybrid sedan, we will keep you informed.

Here is a quick comparison with the second version which will be available in Europe, the IS250 powered by 207hp V6 offering 250Nm of torque, matted to a 6-speed automatic transmission instead of the E-CVT of the hybrid version, besides the IS300h loses only 30l of cargo space in the trunk of a from 480 to 450liters.
