Mercedes CLA 180 BE Edition, 118 g/km for a price of € 28,977 in Germany


One of the premieres of the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS 2013) is also the “sedan” version of the new A-Class, the CLA, which also comes in BlueEfficiency versions - but only in petrol.


The engine of this CLA 180 BE Edition is identical to the one of the compact A-Class 180 BE Edition presented a few days ago, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine developing 122hp and 200Nm.

It should also receive the modifications of the front grille with a lowered height (unspecified for the moment) to achieve the average consumption announced 5l/100km, 0 to 100kph is just at 9.9 seconds for a speed electronically limited to 190kph.

On the aerodynamics side its Cd of 0.22, is a world first for a series model...


Otherwise available with four engines ranging from 109g/km in the CLA220 CDI to 144g/km for the CLA250, all engines are fitted with the ECO start/stop function and coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission (this is the case of the CLA 180 BE) or 7G-Tronic dual clutch gearbox.

In series, the CLA receives the collision prevention system which operates from 7kph with a radar located in the front bumper, it warns you before hardening the pedal for a more incisive braking, the CLA will be available with an optional 4 Matic transmission.


Its price is announced from € 28,977 (19% German VAT included), the entry level price for this new model, the CLA will land in showrooms in April.
