It was announced for this year, and as we expected, the concept LF-CC foreshadowed the design of Lexus’ entry-level sedan (D segment).
For this 2013 IS, Lexus used a new type of launch by offering a test drive of a camouflaged preproduction model to a selection of journalists, giving rise to many objective returns on the car, its handling, technology and powertrain, some sort of blind test to truly experience the car.
About its engine, the new IS is (finally) available in hybrid, the Lexus IS 300h, with also more classical versions, IS250 (and IS350 - only for the United States), for now no diesel variant is announced. Another novelty, the IS300h will mirror the other models of the range with a F-Sport trim
(now available from the CT200h to the LS600h), in short: an aerodynamic package and specific elements giving it a more aggressive look and handling.
More information will come in the next few days, at the opening of the Detroit Auto Show.
