(VIDEO) Applus Idiada Volar-e: an electric supercar for the European Commission!

07/01/2013
In February 2012, the European Commission launched a call for projects "PROMOTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES TECHNOLOGIES" divided in two lots:
-Lot 1, construction of an electric car designed for competition, a prototype intended to help overcome technological and social barriers and promote electric propulsion (won by Applus + IDIADA).
-Lot 2 organizing a demonstration event for the Lot 1 vehicle (won by Automobil Club Assistencia - RACC).

The results were announced at the end of last year, and since then the Applus IDIADA Volar-e is in full development phase before an official presentation scheduled in the coming weeks...

This electric supercar should display a power of 1080hp from four electric motors and achieve the 0 to 100kph in less than 3.5 seconds, the RIMAC One or Exagon Furtive-eGT would better behave themselves!

Its body is made of carbon fiber with a tubular Cr-Mo steel frame, in addition it has a 4x4 transmission, regenerative braking and ceramic discs!

As a reminder, the Quimera AEGT01, was already a good demonstration of what can be done in terms of electric race car, let’s see if Applus can do better!
