FIAT 1,4 MultiAir turbo « New engine of the year »

27/06/2010

The FIAT Powertrain Technologies (FPT) invented an innovative four cylinder engine combining electro-hydraulic management of the inlet valves (MultiAir), and a turbocharger for new efficiency standards.

The engine symbol of the “downsizing” trend develops power outputs from 135 to 170 hp. In example the 170 hp version as a peak torque of 250Nm for emissions of 134g/km of CO² only, making it a very interesting compromise between power and ecology.

In figures the MultiAir technology reduces emissions by 10%, while increasing the power output by 10% and improving torque by 15%.

The “best new engine of the year” award was assigned by an international jury of 65 specialist journalists from 32 countries.
