(VIDEO) Lexus unveils a blue Lexus LF-LC in Sydney and a 500hp hybrid powertrain
For the Australian Motor Show of Sydney that opens its doors this week, Lexus has presented its concept of large 2+2 coupe in a opal blue livery that suits it perfectly but has also unveiled its engine, the most powerful hybrid powertrain ever produced by the brand, it develops 500hp!
Assumptions are over, Lexus unveiled their next generation of hybrid technology that takes place inside the LF-LC concept, it develops a whopping 372kW (500HP) from an Atkinson cycle gasoline engine and an electric motor whose respective powers are not revealed at the moment, however Lexus teases a switch of their Hybrid Synergy Drive technology to lithium-ion batteries (instead of Ni-MH now):
"The high-energy battery pack is designed to deliver greater power from a smaller battery than those currently used in Lexus’ range of hybrid vehicles." Tony Cramb, Lexus Australia
The construction of the concept mixes carbon fiber and aluminum at the image of the LFA.
“LF-LC is part concept, part reality: the concept hints at what’s to come from Lexus, while the reality has us actively studying how we can engineer and build a vehicle like this in the future.”
