(VIDEO) Toyota iQ EV - Scion iQ EV car sharing as destiny

Update of October 18th article with the first video of the Scion iQ EV.

We presented the final version of the Toyota iQ Electric (sold under the Scion brand in the USA) just before the Paris Salon, a vehicle developed for years and production ready, but that will not be sold!

In a press release issued yesterday, Toyota has unveiled the future of this micro-city electric vehicle, car-sharing and fleets, particularly in urban areas and campus.

"Up to now, cost and convenience issues have limited BEV's appeal with a broad consumer market.  Toyota developed the iQ EV specifically as a city commuter, for use in an urban environment, where driving distances are likely to be short, charging opportunities numerous, and its compact proportions beneficial."
Chris Hostetter , group vice president of strategic planning at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.

For the record, the iQ EV has a 63hp and 163Nm motor and offers 85km of range.

The partners of these mobility services will be announced in the coming weeks but Toyota has already announced a fleet of 90 Scion iQ EV.
