New B-Class Electric Drive new code name for Mercedes’ electric cars

After introducing the former B-Class powered by hydrogen, the B-Class F-Cell and the B-Class E-Cell Plus later, a vehicle with range extender. Daimler now reveals a 100% electric version of the new B-Class, which forgets the name of E-Cell in favor of Electric Drive until then reserved to Smart.

This concept which will be presented at the 2012 Paris Auto Show is powered by a 100kW electric motor (134ch) for 310Nm of torque, while the Lithium-Ion battery rechargeable on 230 or 400V (fast charge) should provide 200km of range.

This concept is a technology demonstrator that foreshadows a production model expected for 2014, however there is currently no update on a potential launch of the B-Class E-Cell Plus.

Other electric cars in preproduction versions will be displayed on the Mercedes stand at the Paris Motor Show, the SLS AMG Electric Drive (known until then as the SLS E-Cell) and the Smart Brabus Electric Drive.
