(VIDEO) VEECO RT, three wheeler electric car coming from Portugal
Created in 2005, the company VE (Fabricação de Veículos de Tracção Eléctrica) teamed-up with the Engineering University of Lisbon (ISEL) to create the Veeco RT, a two-seater electric trike, half-way between car and motorcycle.
Result of three years of research and development, the first model Veeco RT 1 Series is a back-wheel drive that develops 30kW of continuous power and 80kW (107hp) in peak for 450Nm of torque, allowing this 800kg 3.56m micro-car to display a 0 to 100kph in 8 seconds and a top speed of 160kph.
Two battery packs are available, from 16kWh for 200km of range to 48kWh for 400km of range.
“100% Portuguese”, its sporty design with a coupé front-end and motorcycle back is enhanced by scissor doors. The interior receives a touch screen with multimedia and GPS functions.
The price of the VEECO RT 1 Series and 2 Series will be announced in the second half of 2012 with first deliveries scheduled for mid 2013.
