It's a real performance that have just been achieved by Knut Wulthil, 52 and Henrik Borchgrevink, 42.
The Norwegian duo, driving the Ford Mondeo ECOnetic 1.6TDCi has traveled some 2,536 km with a 71l tank.
They left from Helsinki on Saturday morning at 5:00 am and arrived in Oslo on Monday morning at 3:10 am. During the 46 hour trip, the average consumption achieved is 2.796 liters per 100 kilometers! A new European record!
The Mondeo ECOnetic is fitted with the latest innovations in fuel efficiency. Equipped with a gearshift indicator, and a longer final gear with a low coefficient of friction, all the elements were there for this record. The Focus ECOnetic also features the Auto-Start-Stop allowing it, among other innovations to achieve an average CO2 emission of 114 g/km.
“Wilthil and Borchgrevink have been in contact with the Guiness World Record office in Britain. The organisation said that it no longer measured the longest on a single tank of fuel.”
