(VIDEO) Pipistrel Panthera the hybrid 4 seater aircraft revealed at Aero Friedrichshafen
We presented you Pipistrel’s project in April 2011, the idea was to develop a four-seater efficient airplane, taking advantage of the technologies developed for their gliders.
Boosted by their victory at the 2011 GFC (Green Flight Challenge) with the Taurus G4 and the comfortable $ 1.35million prize, Pipistrel has been able to present this year at the Aero Friedrichshafen their plane made from composites that will be available with a choice of three engines: conventional (combustion), hybrid and electric.
The prototype presented at the show has the conventional engine, a Lycoming IO-390 that allows a maximum speed of 200knots for a range of 1,000Nm with a consumption of 10 U.S. gallons per hour (37.8l)
Hybrid and electric versions will be revealed soon but you can already appreciate its beautiful design which is similar to the first drawings revealed last year ...
"Panthera will shake the World of General Aviation, setting the benchmark for efficiency, cabin comfort and safety for others to follow. Hybrid and Electric aircraft are the future of aviation with Panthera being the best airframe to demonstrate the potential of this technology." Pipistrel CEO, Ivo Boscarol
