Lexus is developing a rival for the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Range Evoque, 50% cheaper than the RX450h!

Lexus has an updated range of vehicles (GS, RX, CT - IS and LS to come) but still room for new models, new segments, one of them being compact SUV (and of course hybrid!).
To counter the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the new Range Rover Evoque, and also provide an alternative to the large RX450h, Lexus teases the development of an hybrid compact SUV.

On the powertrain side, several options are possible from the most reasonable (nearly not enough) of the CT200h displaying 136hp for 87g/km, to the more playful, the one of the new GS450h, 343hp for 137g/km, but a new intermediate engine seems more coherent ...

Its estimated price is £ 30,000, or 50% cheaper than the current RX sold £ 45,000 in England, we could therefore expect a price of € 38,000 in the rest of Europe (€ 56,200 for the RX450h).

Its name and reveal date are still unknown

“We have been very slow to come to the market with a downsized SUV,”
“This is an area of our range that you will see develop over the next few years.”
Andy Pfeiffenberger, VP of Lexus Europe
