(VIDEO) NAIAS 2012: E-Bugster, preview of an electric Beetle

Here is a first glimpse on VW’s E-Bugster concept.

Presented at the Detroit Auto Show that opens its doors today, the e-Bugster is a concept of electric vehicle based on the new Beetle and using the technology Blue-e-motion, more specifically the powertrain developed for the Golf Blue-e-motion expected in 2014.

This electric Cox with roadster looks receives a 85kW (114hp) and 270Nm electric motor allowing a 0 to 100kph in 10.9 seconds.

Its 28.3kWh Lithium Ion battery is located under the rear seats and trunk floor, it accepts fast charging for a 80% recharge in 30 minutes, while offering a 180km (110 miles) range.
