(VIDEO) Bajaj RE60: after the Tata Nano, a new low-cost microcar from India

Following an alliance with Renault Nissan aiming to develop a low-cost model, that did not resulted in any vehicle, originally specializing in motorbike, Bajaj, India’s second motorcycle manufacturer has launched its first 4-seater low-cost car on the occasion of the New Delhi Auto Expo that opens its doors in 3 days.

At € 2,033 (140,880 Rupees) the RE60 will be offered at a price equivalent to the one of the Nano (140,000 Rupees or € 2021 at today’s exchange rate).

It receives a 22hp 200cc engine derived from the motorcycles of the brand, mated to a sequential gearbox, it announces a consumption of 2.9l/100km (35km per liter) for emissions of only 60g/km. 
However is only at the Euro4 standard...

Thanks to an innovative metal polymer structure weight stands at only 400kg allowing the car to reach a maximum speed of 70kph.
