In addition to the presentation of the ActiveHybrid 5, revealed last October 10
, BMW will reveal a “strategic model” at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS2012), the BMW ActiveHybrid3, a performant full hybrid vehicle expected in fall 2012.
For the record the BMW ActiveHybrid5 is powered by a six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo developing 340hp and 450Nm for emissions limited to 149g/km.
The ActiveHybrid 3 uses the same engine
, the F30
has been designed from its conception to host this hybrid technology, therefore the trunk is preserved (390litres) with upscale performances for a model without concessions ...
The six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo enjoying the torque of the electric motor allows for sports performance (undisclosed for now) with a consumption of 6.4l/100km an consumption improvement of 12.5% compared to conventional models with equivalent power.
The ActiveHybrid 3 can drive in all-electric mode up to 60kph and switch to freewheel up to 160kph. Also note that this model has regenerative braking, a "Boost" button and that the combustion engine is disengaged during deceleration phases.
The hybrid version will appear ostensibly as the eco-performancemodel while the real green version of the 3-Series will be 320d Efficient Dynamics with 109g/km and 4.1 l/100km for 163hp.
Finally, the i3 Concept and i8 Concept will also be displayed at the Detroit Auto Show.
