Carsharing: launch of Car2Go in Lyon planned for 2012

After Auto Bleue in Nice and Autolib' in Paris (not to mention the pioneer YeloMobile in La Rochelle) it is now the turn of Lyon to launch a car sharing service.

Daimler has just announced a partnership with Europcar for the city of Lyon with the launch in early 2012 of the first French extension of Daimler’s self-service car rental solution.

It will not be electric Smarts (ED), but "low-emission" Smarts (mhd?) and should offer from the opening of the service 200 vehicles over a 44 square km distance.

Already tested in several German cities, the United States and Canada, the service car2go operates through a website and an application...

Gérard Collomb, Mayor of the “Grand Lyon” estimates that this action is in the continuity of mobility services developed by the city as Velo'v launched in 2005.
