Electric bike: Smart ebike, priced at € 2900 launch in 2012

On July 19th we revealed a rumor that became official today, Smart launchs the production of its electric bike.

Compared to the concept presented at the Paris Auto Show, the final version gets a few modifications, mainly due to the accessoirisassion of the bicycle.

Its design remains elegant, eventhough the ebike is highly functional with lights, fenders etc... The battery is cleverly placed in the frame.

The Smart ebike will be revealed in world premiere at the Eurobike show at the end of the month before a presentation on the Frankfurt Motor Show in late September, launch will happen on the first half of 2012 in Europe and North America.

To quickly acquire this knowledge the brand did not have, they teamed up with the Berliners from Grace.
Smart offers a green mobility alternative, while positioning itself on an industry whose sales have increased almost threefold in three years. In 2010, no less than 200,000 electric bikes were sold in Germany only and 700,000 in Europe, the market is up by 40% compared to the previous year.

Envisionned by Smart designers, the ebike is the result of feedback from customers on electric mobility but also in terms of interactivity, this zero-emission vehicle offers technological solutions such as regenerative braking and a USB port to place a Smartphone.

The power of Daimler allows to offer a high-end bicycle and a very "smart" design at a cost that is within the average for electric bicycles with equivalent performance, making this product more "democratic" that we could have expected and it is a nice surprise!

Hopefully the escooter follow soon after ...
