2014: The F1 cars will have to run on electricity in the pit lane!

Disappointed by the return of the V6 instead of the four cylinders, as the step towards a cleaner F1 becomes more hesitant, the FIA has just somehow taken its revenge by imposing a challenge for manufacturers.

The rule 5.19 of the 2014 regulation that could go unnoticed in a series of very long and technical measures requires that the open wheel cars run on electricity in the stands!

“5.19 Electric mode : The car must be run in electric mode (no ignition and no fuel supply to the engine) at all times
when being driven in the pit lane.”
