(VIDEO) Geneva 2011: VW Tex and GO! by Giugiaro, new Golf preview ?
02 March 2011This year signs a new beginning for Italdesign Giugiaro, now integrated within the VW group to bring fresh ideas and new concepts.

With these two concepts Tex TWINDRIVE and GO! E-motion, we can’t help imagining (especially because of their dimensions) that they show the guidelines of the new Golf and a more spacious version as the Golf+ was.
Indeed the two concepts have almost identical dimensions with the same length (3.99 m).
GO! is 20 cm higher and its wheelbase 10cm longer.
Both cars have different vocations, one 3-door compact, the other mini-MPV.
Their engines are also different, the Tex offers the TWINDRIVE hybrid technology (already used in the group by the Seat Leon), while the GO! is purely electric.
Tex TWINDRIVE:

Equipped with a 7 speed DSG gearbox, its 1.4 liter turbo gasoline engine offers 110hp and 225Nm torque, it is assisted by an electric motor with a 114hp peak power (60 continuous) and 260Nm that uses a 8,5kWh Lithium-Ion battery.
The result of this combination offers up to 400Nm of torque, the 0 to 100kph takes 6 seconds and achieves a 220kph maximum speed while being capable of emitting only 38g/km or even a full electric drive (0 emissions) for 35km.
GO! E-motion:

After giving an overview of their technology with the electric Golf blue-e-motion, it is now at the heart of the GO!
The engine develops 114hp in peak and 60hp continuous, 0 to 100kph takes 11.3 sec with a speed limited to 130kph.
It is powered by a 33.1kWh rechargeable Lithium Ion, which allows a 240km range.
